Calling for Guest Writers
Church Communications Pro is looking for guest writers and contributors. I know there are many talented and gifted people serving in churches or ministries who have valuable advice and insights to share - and I would love for our readers to get more quality information that can help them in their ministries.
Here are some of the subjects and topics that I am specifically looking to develop:
- Worship Media: Choosing the right projector, what is the best presentation software, how a church leverage technology with a small budget, etc.
- Website : This stuff moves so fast I can’t keep up with it all! What Content Management Systems are the best or easiest to use, thoughts on design and navigation, what does a church really need on it’s website - are a few ideas I am looking to address.
- Technology: Stuff a church must have or can forget about, gadgets or software that really simplifies our lives, computer specs we should consider before buying one, etc.
- Creativity: Churches should be creative! What can we do to utilize the creative talents of the people in our church?
Of course you can look through our topic list and see what other items we have posted about over the years and contribute on anything that helps build The Church or that may cause us to rethink the way we do things.
If you are interested, please use the submission form and provide your contact information along with the topics you would like to write about. I’ll contact you via e-mail to discuss the next steps.
Please note: Church Communications Pro is not independently wealthy so we can’t pay for article submissions or contributions at this time, but we can plug you and give you the opportunity to hone your skills and help many people in the trenches. We also reserve the right to accept and reject posts depending on content, alignment with the CCP vision and values, and whether you are a Barry Manilow fan or not.
My New Adventure
My good friend Brian Gardner took the headfirst entrepreneurial leap a couple of weeks ago (or at least the first step) and I’m officially announcing the same.
As of Jan. 2, 2008, I am taking the plunge, or leap, or whatever you want to call it … and going full-time with my web design business.
I’ve served in churches and in Southern Baptist life for almost six years now, so it’s definitely a huge step for me and my family. It was also extremely hard to tell my pastor as I loved serving under him. I learned so much from him … primarily, about being a godly man, a husband and a leader. Read more
Send Me Your Church Job Descriptions Please
Every now and then (and increasingly) I get requests by church business administrators or pastors looking for a job description for a communications director.
As evidenced by the growing attendance at MinistryCOM and with big churches just getting even bigger, churches and pastors are recognizing the need for this vital role …
So, I’d like to create a resource page here with job descriptions that those looking to develop this position can download, print them off and customize it for their unique needs.
Here’s what I’d like you to do … send me a Word document with your job description (and include permission to do so) and I’ll create a page here for them all to be downloaded in one handy place. If you’d rather your church name not be on it, please indicate that (or just take off your church’s information).

Faith in the Workplace: Ask a Career Coach Some Good Questions
Over the past month or so, I’ve been working with Yahoo! columnist and blogger Penelope Trunk … career coach extraordinare. She’s been a blast to work with … and just seeing the stats from her blog has made my eyes cross sometimes.
Well … she’s just released a new book called Brazen Careerist: The New Rules for Success.
Anyway, I was talking with her about doing a Q&A on the topic of work and career and the intersection of that with faith and spiritual values … and I thought I’d open up the brainstorming of ideas to the readers of this blog.
I think it’d be fun to poise some good questions to her about how a person of deep convictions — enter the evangelical Christian — can “successfully” live out your faith and values in the workplace.
Also … I’d love to hear some questions from pastors that they’d love to get the unique perspective of a “career coach” … both the questions and answers will be interesting to hear I’m sure.
Let’s be general about the questions. But also think about different scenarios a Christ-follower in particular might face. And the whole subject of “faith in the workplace.”
Send me an email with your ideas for questions … or fill out the contact form below.
