Another Rockin’ Church Website Design Company: Factor 1 studios

If you’ve checked out Cool Church Websites, no doubt you’ve seen a bunch of Matt Adams’ work of Factor 1 studios there. In fact, I think his work alone would be enough to fill up the gallery at CCW.

Anyway, Matt and I have emailed back and forth a couple of times and he’s commented on some posts here … but the thing I love is seeing some really excellent work being done for churches and ministries.

And Matt’s work is on my list of rockin’ church website companies!

Check out his web portfolio here.

Blogging Is Not a Four-Letter Word

I’m sorry … but I had to write that headline to get some attention for the subject and debate it represents.

The concept of blogging has become synonymous in certain circles with those who have abused it to air their church family’s dirty laundry to the world.

The key word is … abuse. Just like any other technology, it has and will continue to be abused. That’s life and the truth.

But that saddens me.

… because blogging can and should be used as a TOOL for ministry. Read more

5 Questions with Ministry Marketing Coach Chris Forbes

I first met Chris Forbes of Ministry Marketing Coach last year right before I started this blog. I had seen and heard about Chris’ work and he was one person I wanted to meet as I started my role as a church communications director.

… then on my first day, he left a business card for me. Needless to say, we struck up a great friendship that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. We try to meet often for coffee, “venting” and talking about church communications and marketing. It’s always a blast.

Chris is one of the best marketing strategists I’ve ever met. I appreciate his insights so I thought I would do a long overdue question and answer post(s) with him here.

Discover Sky: A Content Management System for Churches, Ministries

I’ve talked about Element Fusion, an OKC web development company, before … and Tim, their marketing director, has done two guests posts so far … but I wanted to mention their content management system Sky real quickly …

Here’s the reason … I regularly recommend EF and their products. And this is done without compensation. Why? I know some of them. I like them. A lot.  And I love their work and products.

Recommending them to someone recently, I said this: They are the 37signals of Oklahoma (but really the whole region). They’re doing some neat Web 2.0-type innovative work … and I’m REAL proud of the fact they live and work in my hometown.

Anyway, back to Sky …

It’s getting better and better each week it seems. I subscribe to their email newsletter and they’ve made some neat tweaks to an already-good product.

You might ask … didn’t you write a whole series on church websites using WordPress as a CMS? Yes. :-)

Go check out Sky by signing up for a free account … and let me know what you think.

Check Out The Church Website Redesign Process

I’ve profiled the Stonebriar Community Church website before as a rockin’ cool church website … but this article about the redesign process, written by the designer, was pretty neat.

It gives you a glimpse into some of what goes into a design or in this case redesign of a church website from the perspective of a pro.
