Check Your Church’s Office Phone System Once in a While
Every once and a while you need to call yourself … meaning, the church office’s phone system … just to see if everything is accurate and up to date.
This morning I called our church office before office hours to let someone know I’d be in late because of a morning coffee meeting.
What I heard impressed me … our message was great and I must say I was surprised. (Hey, and I didn’t have anything to do with it!)
Here’s what I heard …
- Pleasant and sweet voice who spoke slow enough to write everything down
- Sunday worship times with details on the different services (Contemporary, Traditional)
- Sunday School small group times
- Emergency contact information (I love it because she also said, “In a moment, I’ll give you that number.” So the hearers have time to grab a piece of paper.)
- Our separate numbers for our recreation center, preschool and food pantry/careline.

Here’s one more point that would be great to hear slowly and clearly: your church’s Web address. Having your URL on your church’s outgoing message is especially helpful for after-hours callers who might need some basic information right away.
