Rockin’ Cool Church Website: Northgate Pentecostals Colleyville, Texas

northgate pentecostals church

Check out the Northgate Pentecostals site … including their MySpace site, Pastor’s Blog and Save The Metroplex site, which I’m kind of wondering if Jay Jones had a hand in?

[Thanks to R Payne for the heads up.]

I don’t get why folks are still designing for such low resolutions–do we really have people out there running 800 X 600? I know my setup isn’t common (I’m running three LCDs: 20″ @ 1600 x 1200 to the left, a 24″ @ 1920 x 1200 in the middle and another 20″ @ 1600 x 1200 on the right) but certainly a lot of folks have picked up at least 17″ LCDs that run at a native resolution of what 1280 X 1024. I think my wife’s super small laptop with a 12″ screen runs at at least 1024 x 768 if not a bit higher. This is why I much prefer sites that use very flexible designs that scale with the resolutions–indeed it is much more work, but well worth it in my opinion.

When we were designing the site we looked at the stats from over a year, and took common screen resolution (1024×768) that all the visitors were using.
With the help of BrowserShots.com (thanks Cory) the site doesn’t look bad in different resolutions.
Thank you for the visit to the site neverless.

SaveTheMetroplex.com - Yes. A bite off of the HugGrandRapids.com site, and we do thank them greatly. We just hope the idea works as great here in Dallas. However we didn’t want to take the whole idea and use hugs. We of course used Lifesavers.
    Thank you Kentwood.

Nathan, there’s still a segment of the population that is using the smaller screens … and I think you still have to design for it.

I looked at my church website’s stats … in 2007 about 12% are still using it. In 2006, my stats show 14%.

Sorry guys, I didn’t mean to offend. I see that only a single day of my presence inspired a post and a new commenting policy.

I was just asking an honest question about small resolution screens and I didn’t see it as “bashing” the site. Then again, I tend to be blunt in real life, and therefore, super blunt online.

Overall, I’d say that the site is far better then a vast majorit of church websites out thre.

Nathan, that had nothing to do with you, bro. :-)

Healthy dialogue and questions are great and welcomed …

In fact, I need your “tech genius” perspective here to keep me honest.
