5 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Me

Jay Curlee tagged me a while back and I thought I’d ablige … so here’s five things you might not have known about me (and most likely don’t care):

1. I read a lot of books – but just not ALL the way through. Like from cover to cover. I’m a book vampire. I scour the table of contents for the stuff I’m really interested in, then I suck out the good stuff. My wife hates this. She’s had to put up with the piles of half-read books lying ALL around our house for a long time. I started the Christian Book Lounge partly because of this addiction.

2. I got saved in a job interview … for a church – If you’re really interested in the story, here’s my testimony.

3. I’ve attended 4 colleges and universities in my life … so far
— Murray State College, East Central University, University of Central Oklahoma and Southern Nazarene University (plus two seminaries, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Southwestern Baptist Seminary). It’s a pain in the rearend to get all those transcripts rounded up! I really love learning though (it’s one of my Strengths). I’m just not a very good student!

4. I had a full-ride, four-year leadership scholarship – which I lost after my freshman year due to grades … and probably other extracurricular activities that shall remain nameless. See No. 2.

5. I’m a pretty good volleyball player – Learned to play in college in the sand court at the ACACIA Fraternity house … then started playing indoor in Tulsa, Okla., was an assistant coach for a really good club team (a couple of the players are now playing college ball but not because of me!), and now I play every Wednesday night in our church’s recreation center. It’s about the only sport I’ve been halfway-decent at playing.

OK, I’m done … I thought of a bunch more, but it just feels too vain.
