Why I Blog … and On Being Snowed In

Although I had seen Mark Batterson’s post “Why I Blog,” when I saw and read Brenton’s similar post, I thought I’d chime in and be a copycat. But before I answer the “Why I Blog” question … I want to show you part of Brenton’s answer. It’s an excellent example (maybe even a definition for personal blogging) of how any Christ-follower could use blogs:

“One reason I blog is because blogging is an easy way for me to record, review, research and recall the things I am learning and the ways I am growing.”

That’s one of the reasons I started blogging. I had just started my job as a church communications director and wanted an “outlet” and also a forum for my ideas. Blogs are public, electronic journals. A moleskin notebook of sorts for all my scribbles.

I also blog for the church … the bride of Christ. I realized many (thousands, probably 98% of churches in the U.S.) don’t have the money, budget, etc. for a full-time communications director, like myself.
And so … I hope, through this blog/website, I can serve as their part-time comm. director.

Hint: Pastors, email me with questions, post ideas, whatever … I’ll try my best to help you and your churches.

ON BEING SNOWED IN …

By the way … wondering what that whole post headline about being snowed in means?

My bride and I are stranded as thousands of others are in New Mexico right now waiting out a massive snowstorm/blizzard.

Here are 5 blessings to being stranded (in my particular situation):

1. You get to spend a lot of time with your spouse watching movies, laughing, falling deeper in love with each other.
2. It’s beautiful to see all the white.
3. I’ve got Internet (for the first time in about five days!)

4. We’re warm.

5. You get to find out how much your family loves you because they call you at every mile marker to check your progress and safety.

Bonus Blessing: You get to write some advanced posts, work on more ideas, and other blogs.
