Bible Reading Plans for the New Year: A Resource Guide for Pastors
With the New Year coming soon, I thought I’d post some links and resources for Bible Reading Plans. My pastor just asked me about this last week, so I thought I’d pass along what we’re doing too.
At Quail, we’re buying this Bible reading tract from Good News Publishers/Crossway. Originally, we thought we’d do it as a quick, easy, affordable bulletin insert, but our pastor is going to do something different in the service.
The plan we picked is based on the M’Cheyne plan and can be read online here.
One more idea: At our church in Kansas City, they bought a one-year Bible by John MacArthur in bulk and offered them to the congregation at a discounted price.
Here are the links to some Bible reading plans I found online (and also include some download PDFs to be printed):
http://www.biblegateway.com/resources/readingplans/ — This is the first site I went to.
http://www.navpress.com/Magazines/DJ/BibleReadingPlans.asp — They’ve got some PDF downloads to be printed.
http://www.oneyearbibleonline.com/ — Great site with downloadable PDF, plus don’t miss their blog!

Why do you want to read the thing?! Go all ancient/future and listen to it.
Pick up the Bible podcast at podbible.com. You can subscribe to a chapter a day or the bible in a year feed.
Disclaimer: I’m working on the mobile (.mobi) version at the moment and know some of the people behind the podcast. They rock.
Hi Cory,
We’re going to read through in a year, from beginning to end. There’s lots of other methods but our intent is to read it the way we’ve received it.
I will preach 52 sermons hightlighting the daily sections
Hi Cory,
We’re going to read through in a year, from beginning to end. There’s lots of other methods but our intent is to read it the way we’ve received it. I made a MS Publisher scedule brochure.
Yes we are recommending some may want to listen, or read along to audio CD or on-line readings. http://eword.gospelcom.net/Page13.html has a great daily link page to Bible Gateway selection and schedule combined.
Kids can read the Picture Bible sections.
We will preach 52 sermons selecting a hightlight or theme from the daily reading sections for the previous week.
people are excited about it.
God bless,
Todd
These website is a great tool to any Christian that really wants to read and grow in the word of God.
Thank you for taking the time to put together this material.
God bless,
The Bejaranos
P.s.
Happy New Year!
We’re using the 5×5x5 New Testament Read Through published by Discipleship Journal. To facilitate we offer a class on Sundays where anyone can drop in to discuss the previous week’s reading. We added the blog as an afterthought, unfortunately, so we have just a few readers at this point, but just a couple of commenters. Building up an online community will take a while, since the calendar is hugely full at the church and promotion is tricky.
But anyone is welcome to join us at ntreadthrough.blogspot.com.
