Lottie Moon Now Has a Blog?
For those Southern Baptist readers out there, you’ll know who Lottie Moon is … but for those who don’t, she’s the “namesake” for our annual Southern Baptist international missions offering at Christmas. Born in 1840, she was known as an encourager of missions work.
Here’s a blurb from her site …
“What if Lottie Moon lived and was serving in China today with all the advanced technology that we find in our world? One can assume that based on her prolific letter writing, she would have daily been emailing and blogging so that Southern Baptists in the States would be informed of the needs around the world, and specifically in China. Using current technology, Lottie Moon’s blog site might have read like this during the 39 years she served in the Shantung Province of North China.”
Two observations about Lottie’s blog: (1) What a great way to promote this annual SBC offering for international missions using a blog, (2) they’re tracking their site statistics, but (3) why, oh, why didn’t the International Mission Board host it on their own site and draw the benefits of links from other blogs and get people browsing around their site more easily???
It’s called FTP publishing and Blogger in Beta, who they are using, is now offering it.
So now, the big question is: If Lottie’s blogging … why aren’t you? :-)

Well if she was in China her chances of blogging are fairly limited. Look up “The Great Firewall of China” if you doubt me. ‘Free speech’ is fairly alien to the Chinese government.
