Blogging Pastors: Why I Suggest Using Blogger.com
Although there are many others ways to start a blog, for the "I Help Pastors Blog" series, I'm going to have a bias towards using the Blogger.com platform.I recommend that pastors use Blogger.com for their blogging platform for a number of reasons. They are really simple reasons:
- It's easy -- Blogger's Help section is a great resource, but there are probably a 100 more good tutorial sites and million or so users to ask
- It's cheap -- Free is a great deal, I think, don't you?
- It's flexible -- I've used it for two years, and helped a couple others get started
- It's getting better and better -- With the latest changes from Blogger, like adding "labels," I'm liking Blogger more and more
- Google owns it -- Logically, I gotta think it's nice being on one of the best search engines on the planet
- I use it myself -- And thus, know it better and can help others to start blogging with it faster; this is probably the best reason I have, and why I'm a biased; I guess you go with what you know!
Here are a couple of other blogging platforms:
- WordPress -- Free; This is a very popular blogging platform, one I've been experimenting with. It has a lot of function that Blogger just doesn't have. I really like it, but haven't taken the plunge yet.
- TyepPad -- Paid solution
- LiveJournal
- Windows Live Writer

Thanks for the great tips and resources. I have worked hard on communicating better and have found square space to be a fantastic blogging platform. One huge advantage over blogger is customer service. If you have problems, they deal with it that day. Software upgrades and system downtime is announced in advance. There are no unexplained losses of data. Of course, it is not free but at $2 a month I find it to be a great service.
