5 Questions with TallSkinnyKiwi's Andrew Jones
As part of the "Blogging 101 for Pastors" series [click here to see all the posts], I've been asking several proflic blogging pastors or believers to answer five basic questions about blogging. The second to respond was Andrew Jones of TallSkinnyKiwi -- ranked as one of the top blogs on the Internet by several sources.
According to his blog, Andrew is the "Project Director for the Boaz Project. We are developing a support structure for church in the emerging culture. My blog is about God, spirituality, new media and new expressions of church."
I loved his reply to my email, explaining that he would love to answer my 5 questions, saying he'll answer them like he blogs "immediately, quickly and without perfectionistic worry. Because if you fret over getting things perfect, you will never make a great blogger but will have to settle for the lesser honor of book writer." :-)
1. Why (or how) did you start blogging?
I have kept a spiritual diary of sorts for 20 years. In 1997 i decided to switch from paper to internet and have been blogging ever since as a spiritual discipline and means of publishing good tidings daily.
2. What subject do you post most about?
church and in particular, that part of church that is "emerging" in the new culture.
3. What are your favorite blog tools?
ecto, technorati, typepad, fireworks for images
4. How often do you post?
daily and a few times. but i counteract my addiction with occasional blog-fasts. I recently went one whole month without posting.
5. What one piece of advice would you give for prospective blogging pastors?
Be a vibrant, risktaking, Christlike person who is honest and vulnerable in sharing their WHOLE life as opposed to being an invisible writer of shorter articles.
[[[ Thanks, Andrew!!! Blessings! ]]]
