5 Blogging Questions with Mark D. Roberts
As part of the "Blogging 101 for Pastors" series [click here to see all the posts], I've been asking several proflic blogging pastors to answer five basic questions about blogging.Dr. Mark D. Roberts, senior pastor of Irvine Presbyterian Church in Irvine, Calif., was kind enough to respond to the 5 Blogging Questions series.
He's a pioneer in the church/ministry/pastor blogsophere, having started blogging in Dec. 2003 (according to archives). He's also an adjunct prof at both Fuller Theological Seminary and San Francisco Theological Seminary and holds a Ph.D. in religion from Harvard.
Here's his answers:
1. Why (or how) did you start blogging?
I started blogging because Hugh Hewitt kept bugging me about it. He convinced me that the blogosphere needed "reasonable Christian voices." I also figured I could use my blog as a tool for pastoring my own congregation.
I post about matters of church and culture from a clearly Christian and biblical perspective.
Daily, almost always once per day, not more or less.
Blogging is just one more tool in the pastoral toolbox. Treat it like any other ministry or opportunity or time-consuming exercise of gifts.
