Michael Foster is pastor and church planter of Seven Hills Church, which also has a MySpace profile. He is a recent daddy (congrats!) and blogs at The Gaslight Gospel. I read this post and emailed him.

Here’s his answers:

1. Why (or how) did you start blogging?

I started blogging as a way to build community between me and a couple of friends. Eventually, they all stop blogging and became MySpace zombies. I on the other hand keep my blog going and it grew as a way to connect with and share ideas with other church planters and pastors. Presently, I’m planning to switch the focus of my blog to be used as more of a pastoral resource for Seven Hills Church.

2. What subject do you post most about?

Church planting.

3. What are your favorite blog tools?

I just use Typepad.

4. How often do you post?

Whenever I get around to it but around twice a week on average.

5. What one piece of advice would you give for prospective blogging pastors?

Blogs where created for man and not man for blogs. Don’t be a slave to your tools. Blogging has the same dangers as World of Warcraft and Second Life. So be careful.
