5 Blogging Questions with Kem Meyer

As part of the “Blogging 101 for Pastors” series [click here to see all the posts], I’ve been asking several proflic blogging pastors to answer five basic questions about blogging.

Granger’s Communications Director Kem Meyer, who blogs at Less Clutter & Noise, answered my 5 Blogging Questions. Kem brings a wealth of business marketing experience to her position. I thoroughly enjoy reading her blog, learning, and taking it back to my context. Here’s her answers:

1. Why (or how) did you start blogging?

I started blogging for two reasons 1) to equip other church leaders by responding to frequently asked questions (answer the question once and link to the post as the questions keep coming in) and 2) to organize my thoughts and strategies.

2. What subject do you post most about?

Communications … specifically related to stretching to understand other people’s perspectives and by reducing noise and clutter in life and church.

3. What are your favorite blog tools?

Bloglines, Technorati, Google, Feedburner, Typepad.

4. How often do you post?

When I’m inspired or irritated. That ranges from several times a day to a couple of times a month. It varies greatly for me.

5. What one piece of advice would you give for prospective blogging pastors?

Buy “The Blogging Church” by Brian Bailey and Terry Storch. It’s a great overview of the why and how of ministry blogging as well the pros and cons. I read a pre-release manuscript and I would recommend everyone who reads, writes or is curious about blogs to check it out.

    Because you mention “wealth of business marketing experience”, where has Kem worked before GCC?
