Secret Church: A Profound Look at the Persecuted Church

While reading fellow church communications director Gene Mason’s blog, I clicked through to a link titled Secret Church.

What I found is … awesome … and a very humble reminder of our suffering brothers and sisters around the world.

It seems The Church at Brook Hills, under the leadership of new pastor David Platt, will be starting a special Friday night meeting/service/dinner/study to “begin to see and identify with the persecuted church around the world. These are our brothers and sisters in Christ.”

In his introduction, Platt says: “If we look at our faith through an ‘Americanized’ lens, we can see great comfort, abundance and safety. In the United States it’s rather easy to go to church, read a Bible, pray, and share our faith. It’s so easy, in fact, that few of us do any of these things with regularity …

“But most Christ-followers around the world … will tell you that their faith is anything but easy. They are threatened, beaten, treated unfairly, imprisoned, even killed because they profess faith in Jesus Christ.”

Amen, brother. Amen. Wish I was closer to attend these “secret” meetings.
