Rockin’ Cool Church Web Site No. 11

As you might know, from time to time I profile church Web sites that rock called the “Rockin’ Cool Church Web Site” series at CCP. So far I’ve profiled 10 church sites.

What you might not know is that I have an online form to suggest a church. And today I got the first request from it for Higher Vision Church in Valencia, Calif.

Here’s what I really like about the site:

  • The intro/splash video is well done — it’s actually not a waste of time. I usually hate these, but this one is just a short “commercial” that has a great theme. When I saw the clip I got a very favorable impression of the church as a place for family and celebrating life together.
  • Pastor Jared Ming clip — once you’re in the site, you are welcome by a short video of the pastor. I like this because, like it or not, people are still drawn to other people. And the pastor is the one they’ll see the most. It’s a great, short introduction to Pastor Jared.
  • Event Calendar — pretty cool with lots of function and it looks like someone is actually keeping up with it.
  • Mission Statement — although it’s not necessarily a web site exclusive, the mission statement really rocks: “To discover Christ, passionately celebrate life, inviting others to experience the journey.” I like it. Short and to the point. “Celebrate” is a good word. I don’t think we make use of it enough in the church.
