8 Lessons Learned from LifeChurch’s MySecret.tv: My CMS Post

I took a step out and offered my insights from watching the frenzy surrounding LifeChurch’s MySecret.tv confessional Web site … read it at CMS.

I definitely don’t want to heap a ton of negative criticism on Life for taking a step out. My intent was never to be just another critic. And hope the spirit of that motivation is evident in the post.

But just watching it all unfold before my eyes (I live and serve four miles from their main campus in OKC) … I learned some valuable lessons from it all.

… on how to use the Internet FOR ministry, on the delicate balance between marketing and Message, biblical principles and marketing principles … we in this “business” (the spiritualized word is “ministry”) have a tough job, but one I think we’re up to if we learn from our mistakes and successes.

I appreciate Life for going out on a limb and their willingness to do something new. But at the same time, I hope they (and us) continually seek feedback and accountability from our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and don’t try to go it alone.

Also, thanks to Kevin Hendricks and CMS for giving me a forum and megaphone to share my thoughts on it all.
