Confess Your Secret Sins: Church Site Offers Online, Anonymous Confessions

LifeChurch.tv, one of the fastest growing churches in America with an estimated 16,000 worshipping on 8 campuses (plus their “Internet campus”), has been promoting a new Web site for online confession — mysecret.tv.
The online site has garnered much attention here in Oklahoma and according to news reports, also at the church’s campus in Phoenix, Ariz. As of Sunday, one television station reported 800 people had made “confessions” and the site had received an estimated 80,000 hits.
The site’s front page quotes 1 John 1:9 and asks: “What’s your ‘it?’” What is “eating at you,” what “keeps you awake at night,” and that “it’s just time to get it out.”
The “secret files” or categories include: addictions, double life, eating disorders, gambling, pornography, adultery, hurt, lying, stealing, relationships, sexuality, past humiliation, regret, shame, abuse, lust, substance abuse, and self harm.
On the link to submitting a story, the text says: “Have you experienced a victory that began with a secret confessed? A past hurt revealed? A lie exposed? We’d love to hear your story. But more importantly, thousands of other people who are struggling with the same burdens would love to hear. Your story could be another person’s hope.”
There is also a warning for “adults only content” …
Site resources include an invitation to join one of LifeChurch’s campuses for worship, a prayer request form, links to messages and other helpful resources, and links to getting connected with a LifeGroup.
Here’s the link to a promo video they are using to spread the word about the site.
And here’s an article and two videos (here, here) about the site:
